We may not have seen any Newfoundland dogs, but we experienced plenty of Newfoundland’s other wonders such as birds, fish, berries, fish, folk music, and fish.

Toronto and Montreal bookended our trip to Newfoundland. It was some of the best and most diverse food of my life, followed by fish & chips every day for a week, followed by some of the best and most diverse food of my life.

There’s a certain clarity that comes with winter. The snow soundproofs the landscape, the air is pure and crystallized, and the ever-present darkness threatens to consume you.
